Thanks for visiting! My name is Haileigh, but a few years ago my husband began calling me “Bean.” I’ve never had a nickname before, and, for some reason, this one stuck! When I needed a name for this website, I immediately thought it fitting.
I first became interested in conservation when I was in middle school. I remember learning about the destruction of the rainforest and feeling horrified that acres of land were disappearing every minute. I was so moved by the cause that I started my first (and very primitive) website, “There’s Still Time,” when I was 13 years old.
As I grew older, my love of nature stuck with me. I began to realize that the issues impacting the environment (and us as citizens) are much more extensive than I’d once thought. I became aware that many mainstream cosmetics are loaded with chemicals and carcinogens, that plastic waste kills tens of thousands of marine animals each year, and that the planet’s rapid warming is melting ice across the globe. We must, as a species, make drastic changes to the way we live our daily lives, and we all can contribute something.
I am trying to be more eco-friendly in my daily life and I strive to be a good resource for all things health, wellness, and sustainability. I majored in English Literature in college and this website is an outlet for my passions: nature, writing, creating, and photography. I enjoy meeting new people and networking with others who share my love of the earth and the natural world. Through this website, I aim to show that being a more eco-friendly person doesn’t mean sacrificing the things you love. In matters of sustainability, small steps can make a huge difference. In my spare time, I love exercising, cooking, hiking, and biking. The photo above is from my first 25-mile trail race I completed in 2016.
I hope you enjoy this website. To contact me for a collaboration or just to say hello, please use the contact form. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
